Sorin diagnosing a liquid-damaged laptop board with a multimeter reading a short circuit

Why Post It Instead of Using a Local Shop?

Most local computer shops do the easy jobs — a new drive, a reinstall, a battery. When a laptop has a real board-level fault, they send it away or call it a write-off, because component-level micro-soldering is a specialist skill few shops have.

Mail-in fixes that. Instead of being limited to whoever is nearby, you get your laptop onto the bench of a specialist who repairs boards at the chip — the same work Sorin teaches to technicians worldwide through Electronics Repair School. A tracked parcel is a small step for a repair you genuinely can’t get locally.

And it’s low-risk: we diagnose and quote before doing anything, and it’s no fix, no fee.

How to Pack Your Laptop Safely

Covered From Door to Door

We repair laptops mailed in from anywhere in the UK — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Your laptop is logged in on arrival, repaired personally by Sorin, bench-tested, and returned tracked and insured. You’re kept updated by message at every stage, so you always know where your machine is and what’s happening.

What We Write Down When Your Parcel Arrives

When a laptop lands on the Grays bench we do not just “book it in”. We photograph the chassis as it came out of the box, note whether a charger was in the parcel, read the model and serial, and write your booking-form fault next to what the machine actually does on first power. That intake note is what the quote is based on — so a no-power is called a no-power before anyone starts soldering.

If the machine was spilled on, say so on the form. Corrosion work is a different job to a dead charging port, and we will not guess. After the repair the same laptop is soak-tested on the bench, then packed for a tracked, insured return to the UK address you booked from. Schools and shops can send more than one machine; each one is logged and quoted on its own sheet.

You Approve the Quote. No Fix, No Fee.

You’ll always have a written quote before any work starts, and going ahead makes the diagnosis free — it’s absorbed into the repair. Decide not to proceed and a small charge covers the inspection time. If we can’t repair your laptop, you don’t pay for the repair — you cover only return postage. Typical turnaround is 3–7 working days from arrival, and we accept all major payment methods on completion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Start with the booking form or WhatsApp — tell us your model and the fault. Then pack the laptop securely (see our packing tips above) and post it to our Grays, Essex workshop with any tracked courier. We confirm arrival, diagnose, and quote before doing any work.
It’s very safe when packed properly, which is why we provide packing guidance. Send it tracked, and we return it tracked and insured. Keep your outbound tracking number until we confirm we’ve received it.
All of it — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Because we’re a mail-in service, your location doesn’t matter; you get the same specialist repair wherever you are.
After. You approve a written quote before any work and pay on completion — going ahead makes the diagnosis free, while a small charge covers the inspection time if you decide not to proceed. No fix, no fee — if we can’t repair it, you don’t pay for the repair, only return postage.
Typically 3–7 working days from when your laptop arrives, depending on the fault and parts. We keep you updated by message throughout, so you’re never left guessing.
Only send the charger if the fault is charging or power related. We always recommend backing up your data before sending any device for repair where possible — though most repairs (board, screen, charging) leave your storage untouched.
Yes — tell us the count and models on the booking form or WhatsApp first so we can plan bench time. Each machine is logged, photographed and quoted separately. We still diagnose before any paid work, and we return them on the same tracked service you used to send them.
We can usually diagnose from the laptop alone. If the fault is in the brick, or the machine needs its own charger to finish a test, we will ask you to send it. Leave mice, sleeves and unused accessories at home — they add weight and do not help the repair.
Yes, from anywhere in the UK. Same process: pack, tracked post to Grays, written quote before work. Apple boards often need component-level work the high street cannot do — that is the reason to mail it in rather than shop locally.

Send Your Laptop In — Nothing to Pay Up Front

Component-level laptop repair by post, anywhere in the UK. No fix, no fee. Nothing to pay up front — you get a written quote before work begins. If the machine was spilled on, start on the liquid-damage page instead; corrosion is a different job. Gaming overheat and GPU work has its own page. A full board rebuild is covered under motherboard repair.
