Laptop Screen Replacement & Repair — Cracked, Flickering or Dead Displays

Cracked the screen, lost the backlight, or staring at lines and flicker? We replace and repair laptop screens for every brand — fitted with the correct-spec panel, tested for dead pixels, and posted back to you. No fix, no fee.

UK-wide mail-in  ·  Correct-spec panels, not generic  ·  Cracked, flickering, lines, black screen  ·  All major Windows brands

Screen Problems We Fix

Most laptop display faults come down to the panel, its cable or the backlight circuit — and nearly all are repairable. If you recognise any of these, we can quote you.

Cracked or Smashed Glass

A dropped or knocked laptop with spider-cracks, black blotches or bleeding colour. The panel is replaced with a correct-spec match for your model.

Lines, Bars & Artefacts

Vertical or horizontal lines, coloured bars or scrambled patches. Often a damaged panel or display cable — we test which before quoting.

Flickering & Dimming

A screen that flickers, pulses or fades. Can be the panel, the backlight circuit or the cable — we diagnose the real cause, not guess.

Black Screen, Backlight On

You can faintly see the desktop with a torch but there’s no backlight — a backlight or board-level fault, not always a new panel.

Dead Pixels & Pressure Marks

Stuck dots, dark patches or rainbow “pressure” marks from a bag or a knock. Replaced and tested pixel-by-pixel before return.

Loose Hinge & Cable Damage

A wobbly lid or screen that cuts out when you move it — a failing hinge or a chafed display cable. We fix the cause, not just the symptom.

Is It the Screen — or the Board Behind It?

Here’s something most screen-replacement shops won’t tell you: not every “broken screen” needs a new panel. A black display, missing backlight or strange artefacts can come from the display cable, the backlight circuit, or even the GPU on the motherboard — and fitting a brand-new panel won’t fix any of those.

Because we’re a component-level repair specialist, we test the whole display chain first. If it’s the panel, we replace it. If it’s the cable or a board-level fault, we fix that instead — so you don’t pay for a screen you didn’t need.

That single step saves customers money every week, and it’s why a screen fault is worth sending to a repairer who actually understands what’s behind the glass.

The Right Panel, Fitted Properly

A laptop screen isn’t one-size-fits-all. Fit the wrong panel and you get washed-out colour, the wrong refresh rate, or a screen that doesn’t seat correctly. We source the correct-spec panel for your exact machine — not the cheapest generic — and check every one before it ships back:

What a Screen Replacement Costs

Screen prices depend almost entirely on the panel your model uses. As a guide for the UK: a standard HD/Full-HD laptop panel fitted is typically £90–£170; high-resolution, high-refresh, touch or premium ultrabook panels run higher. We confirm the exact panel and price before any work.

Is it worth it? Almost always — a screen replacement is a fraction of the cost of a new laptop, and your data and machine stay exactly as they are. No fix, no fee: if we can’t resolve it, you don’t pay for the repair.

Every Laptop Brand

We replace screens on HP, Dell, Lenovo & ThinkPad, ASUS, Acer, MSI, Razer, Samsung and Microsoft Surface, including gaming laptops with high-refresh displays. If your model isn’t listed, ask — we almost certainly cover it.

Diagnosed by the Specialist Who Teaches It

Knowing whether a fault is the panel, the cable or the board is exactly the skill that separates a real repair from a guess-and-swap. It’s also what Sorin is known for worldwide — he runs the Electronics Repair School YouTube channel, where 460,000+ subscribers learn board-level diagnostics and micro-soldering.

Your laptop is diagnosed and repaired personally by Sorin, on the same bench you see in those videos — not handed to a junior or shipped to a third party. That’s how you only ever pay for the repair your screen actually needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the panel your model uses. As a guide, a standard HD/Full-HD screen fitted is typically £90–£170; high-resolution, high-refresh, touch and premium panels cost more. We always confirm the exact panel and price before doing any work — no surprises.
If the glass or LCD is physically cracked, the panel itself has to be replaced — cracked LCDs can’t be repaired. But not every display fault is a cracked panel: flicker, lines or a black screen can be the cable, backlight circuit or board. We test first so you only pay for what’s actually needed.
Almost always. A screen replacement is a small fraction of the cost of a new laptop, and you keep your data, your apps and the machine you’re used to. The main exception is a very old or low-value laptop with other faults, which we’ll tell you honestly.
That’s usually a backlight or board-level fault, not a cracked panel. The display is still working but it isn’t being lit. As a component-level repairer we can fix the backlight circuit rather than charging you for a whole new screen you may not need.
Yes. We fit high-refresh-rate gaming laptop panels (144Hz, 165Hz and 240Hz) as well as standard displays across every mainstream Windows brand. High-spec panels are quoted individually.
No. A screen replacement only touches the display — your storage drive and everything on it are untouched. Your files, apps and settings stay exactly as they were.

An exceptional technician with a deep knowledge and understanding of electronics and especially laptops. Probably the best ‘all round’ technician in the UK. Old school, deep electronics understanding. Ohms Law god.

I started following Sorin's channel on YouTube quite a few years ago. I have learned so much from him and there were a few jobs I couldn't handle that I sent to him. In all cases he was able to fix my customer's devices at a very reasonable cost. Highly recommended!
